After the Dallas Frisco TX storms

It’s a beautiful day here in Frisco TX. The thunder storms and tornadoes that hit Arlington (40 miles southwest of Frisco) and Forney (45 miles southeast of Frisco) on April 3rd 2012 are behind us.

It was a disastrous Tuesday afternoon. Tornado sirens were going off for over an hour here in Frisco TX. Many residents seek cover as they keep an eye out for the path of the storm and tornadoes.

Now that it is behind us, and the news media are sharing videos of the disaster. Homes torn apart, vehicles flying in the sky, and stories about how families were protecting each other in bathrooms and closets.

It is such good news that we did not have any fatalities in the storms and tornadoes. Thank God!!! He is indeed good.

Texas State Flower Bluebonnets bloom

The Bluebonnet is Texas State flower. Its binomial name is Lupinus Texensis. Every year, the bluebonnets along with other Texas wildflowers bloom throughout the early Spring season. This year, with the winter as well as the rain we had, the bluebonnets and wildflowers are out even earlier than usual.

Here in the Frisco TX area, we like to take children and family photos with the bluebonnets. There are lots and lots of bluebonnet fields along the roads and freeways.

Some of my family favorite spots are in Plano: The JC Penney field (near Headquarters and Legacy Drive) and along Custer and Spring Creek jogging trail.

The Bluebonnets last about 3-4 weeks and it is now in full bloom. Take the opportunity to create some photo opportunities with your family this Spring season.

Spring Break: A Fun Trip to the Dallas Zoo

It’s finally Spring Break for Frisco ISD. The week of March 12th through March 16th. So, what are your plans with the kids this week?

How about a trip to the Dallas Zoo and to top that, what about a DART train ride to the zoo?

The Dallas Zoo opens from 9am – 5pm. So, if you plan to visit, you can plan to take the DART train (Red Line) at the Parker Station in Plano. It takes about 45 minutes to get from the Parker Station to the Dallas Zoo. I promise you that it will be a fun and exciting train ride, just in itself for the kids.

It costs $12 per admission for children between 2 – 11, $15 for children 12 and adults (up to 64 years young) and $12 for seniors (65 & above). Children under 2 years old is free.

You could spend at least 5-6 hours at the Dallas Zoo, with lunch options in 3 different restaurants (Serengeti Grill, Zoofari Food Court and Wilds of Africa Grills).

Plan to bring your strollers too. In case you forget, you can always rent it at the Zoofari Market, just past the main entrance for $10/day.

The children gets to visit lots of animals, learning about them and their habitats. Throughout the day, there are short programs to introduce the animals to the visitors also.

If you haven’t been to the Zoo lately, or your children has not been, it’s definitely a trip worth taking. You will have conservations about your trip for the next few days. It will definitely raise their awareness about animals and the surroundings we all live in.

Enjoy some of the photos at the Dallas Zoo:
